sweeping up the spiderwebs

Wow, I've been horrible at keeping up with this blog as of late. I've honestly been up in the studio painting from about 730 in the morning; straight through til about 4 or 430...without even realizing how quickly the day has passed.

I have loads of photos to share now, and I hope it begins to make up for the chaos which led to moving this blog much farther down the priority list. But to clarify, it was just the act of updating the blog that moved down - not the actual "creating something daily", ok? I really am sorry that the cobwebs settled in.

painting in progress

So, here is a photo of a triptych that I began two years ago, along with some detail shots of drawings that I have incorporated in the actual painting. The piece is as of yet, untitled. But it is acrylic & mixed media on canvas; each panel being 2 ft x 3 ft.

Here we go....

On Saturday, I met with the lady who runs Yama Yoga Studios here in Doha. My exhibition is confirmed, and opening night is Thursday, May 20th, 2010. Please mark your calendars! Details to follow.

It seems fitting then that I also include a photo of the "Waterlily" painting in progress - acrylic on canvas. (In case anyone wondered, I've taken this photo at an angle for no particular reason.)

Stay tuned!

Update (as of 4/29) - Having recently discovered that the Canadian Ball is slated for May 20th, the exhibition opening is tentatively rescheduled for Thursday, May 27th. We're just waiting to confirm the date change with Garvey's...so please check back for details soon.

Looking for crack (acrylic crackle gel)

I found out yesterday that the only art supplies store I go to in Doha (and only when I am desperate for something) does not have crackle gel. The 'helpful' clerk tried to convince me such a thing doesn't exist. I guess I'm just going to have to go MacGyver on this...

worth the wait

I feel so guilty about falling behind on this blog, but there's only 1 month left to go. I've locked myself into the studio this Easter morning, and I don't have any new photos of works-in-progress that I want to share at the moment.

I really hope the end products are all worth the wait.

But again, if anyone is actually reading this, please be patient with me...All time IN the studio is now focussed on painting. And all time OUT of the studio is clearly accounted for. This working mom thing isn't easy. But I'm so grateful for all of it.

Happy Easter, everyone!
